Once pregnancy has been confirmed, it is encouraged to continue with your acupuncture care during the first trimester.  Acupuncture is safe during pregnancy, but you must tell your practitioner you are pregnant because there are points and different areas on the body that are to be avoided.

Acupuncture works wonders for those that are unfortunate enough to have pregnancy symptoms: extreme fatigue, nausea and vomiting, digestive changes, constipation, heart burn, headaches, and back pain just to name a few. While you may still experience some pregnancy symptoms, they are much less intense and more controlled compared to those who do not use acupuncture during pregnancy. In fact, some insurance companies will even cover acupuncture for nausea during pregnancy.

For women with a history of miscarriage, this is especially important. Acupuncture can help keep the qi in the body to move smoothly and healthily. In turn, this helps baby to stay in place, reducing the risk of miscarriage.

While conception is a miraculous event, sustaining a happy and healthy pregnancy to full term and being blessed with your little bundle of joy is an even bigger miracle.
